Loss of Parent, Family, and Friends
New Hope’s programs give you a safe place to express your grief, connect with others experiencing the loss of a parent, family, or friends, and begin the healing process. There is no charge to participate in our ongoing groups or programs.
What others who have joined our loss of parent, family, and friends groups have to say:
First Steps provides those who have experienced the death of a loved one, a safe place to share their story, understand more about grief, and learn about the grief support programs and resources that New Hope offers. This one-time scheduled meeting provides an opportunity to connect with a peer support facilitator that is similar in age and has experienced a similar type of loss.
Please contact the New Hope office at (248) 348-0115 or at [email protected] if you would like to set up a First Steps support meeting.
Navigating through grief can be incredibly difficult— no matter who you have lost, you do not have to go through dealing with the loss alone. Support for All Losses is a peer support group for those who have lost a parent, friend, significant other, or other loss. This group is open to adults of any age who have experienced a loss.
There is no cost or pre-registration required to attend any of the ongoing groups, but all new participants must complete a First Time Participant Form. Virtual participants, please Click Here to complete the First Time Participant Form. If you are joining a group in-person, you can complete this online form or a paper copy at the group.

“From Grief to New Hope” 8-Week Workshop
The “From Grief to New Hope” 8-Week Workshop combines the educational components of a seminar with the safety and support of a peer group. This workshop is available in-person and virtually to adults who are grieving the death of a loved one regardless of how long it has been since the loss occurred. This workshop is a safe place to express your grief and begin the healing process. Each session includes a speaker presentation for all and smaller group discussion time. These small groups are guided by facilitators who have also experienced similar loss and have traveled their own grief journey. This workshop is offered in-person and virtually.
Small groups are closed to new attendees after week 2. Support people are welcome to come to hear the weekly workshop speakers, but unfortunately are unable to participate in small groups. Support people must check in with staff upon arrival to complete registration. Thank you.
